Days Out

We took a trip to Rye on the South Coast and to Camber Sands, a vast expanse of beach then on to the extraordinary Dungeness, a National Nature Reserve and one of the largest expanses of shingle in the world. The area around it plays host to a small village, two nuclear power stations, the world's smallest public railway and an important ecological site. Old Fishermans huts and boats scatter the beach, most of them abandoned many years ago. Perhaps the most famous house in Dungeness is Prospect Cottage, formerly owned by the late artist and film director Derek Jarman. The cottage itself is painted black, with a poem, part of John Donne's "The Sunne Rising", written on one side in black lettering. The garden however is the main attraction. Reflecting the bleak, windswept landscape of the peninsula, Derek Jarman's Garden is made of pebbles, driftwood, scrap metal and a few hardy plants. Here are some photos I wanted to share.

Blue is the colour for our new bedroom so I am sifting through our photo archive of all the amazing places we have visited for inspiration. Here are a few of my favourites I thought I would share with you.

Summer is here!

Summer is here and so too a new range of cushions. I will be showcasing the new collection at 'Open House', part of the Summer Dulwich Festival where artists open up their studios to the public to talk about their work. I will be sharing the studios of the wonderful Roddy and Ginger, founded by a dear friend of mine Virginia Armstrong who creates wonderful vintage inspired Screen Prints, Bags and Childrens Clothing.
